Data DeMaggio collage/illustration •¬

For the visual world of my electronic music I chose the character Data as an icon. I've been doing a lot of geometric-line drawings. Used in relation to minimal information design by ILM (but in my case superficially for the aesthetics). The android Data has always been a very beautiful literary device to me. He (gender is arguable) is the pinocchio of the future.
His character re-examines the human condition from an outside perspective (in theory).
His view-point strips life down far-surpassing the calm logic of the Vulcans.
Comparisons could be made to Mr. Spock's role in the original StarTrek's curiosity in human behavior. Data too has an evil twin. But what's even better than a "good spock/bad spock" is he's beyond good and evil: Lore is amoral. He can be anything he feels compelled to be as an android following his programming algorithms. Data was created with a more "devoted mind" after the deactivation and disassembly of Lore (due to his problematic interactions with the colonists he was programmed by). And he has a cat named "Spot."

Data is portrayed by actor/musician: Brent Spiner in a variety of shows and films.
